Choices have consequences; this is what Brian does not really get.
Brian is a player, or he thinks he is until he gets played. Wanting everything for himself, his selfishness speeds up his destiny to destruction.
The two sisters getting played by Brian realize their mistakes but is it a little bit too late? Reconciliation between them seems a tall order but with the interference of a pastor and guidance from a religious point of view, there's a ray of hope.

Kiisha has the perfect life. The perfect husband, the perfect home, and now the perfect child. Life has made perfect sense since she met Toby. But the situation takes an unlikely turn when arrangements are made for her to stay at her in-laws while her husband is away.

The story unfolds as deep and sometimes dark secrets emerge about her past and will ultimately lay the path for her future....

Backlash delves into the sometimes-strained family relationships usually hidden from public view and uses carefully structured flashbacks to tell the story of a woman's struggle to find love and happiness.

BENTA 2016 06 Jul

Benta is the name of the key character as well as the title for the film. The movie is a screen adaptation of well-loved stage play going by the same title.

Benta grew up as a normal child until, as fate would have it, her parents perished in a road accident. At the time, Benta, the first born of her family, was only 15. The presence of the
extended family during the funeral of her folks might have given this newly orphaned child a ray of hope. A hope that was short-lived.

We then see Benta and her siblings get kicked out of their home by a ruthless landlord and like many other orphans, they head for the slums.

Now at 17 years, Benta is out of school and needs to keep providing for her siblings. She has three choices – to look for a husband, become a prostitute or get a job that has some decency to it. Well, this is how she ends up at the Fulani's, as a maid.

The Fulani home is a typical upper middleclass home, where we meet another kind of teenagers. Dedan and Sheeana Fulani deliver to the plot teenagers in a "normal" environment – also known as spoilt brats.

The question remains – will Benta survive her situation? The answer lies in the film.

Nominated and won "Best Actress" in the Kalasha Awards 2009.
